deborah sams and mary-lou ryan, two friends with an impressive history in australian fashion, established bassike together in 2006 with a clear vision to create adaptable and covetable everyday pieces with a design pedigree that allow them to work in a structured wardrobe just as well as with a pair of flip-flops. the bassike philosophy is all about creating wardrobe staples with longevity; combining timeless style with premium quality and sustainable fabrics. establishing their brand with the original range of organic cotton t.shirts, the focus soon expanded to include denim - building a range of handcrafted jeans using premium japanese fabric with an emphasis on traditional engineering. the label’s growth continued to include men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections with an emphasis on producing quality fashion locally in australia. in november 2011, the evolution continued with the launch of bassike eyewear - offering a concise collection of classic acetate and titanium frames made in japan.
